The Stash

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

I've been enjoying my new craft room to no end. It's so much fun to go in there, surrounded by things I love and create amidst them and the beautiful light. I plyed some handspun the other day and was having so much fun I didn't notice that the sun set and night fell while I was working. In my room, it was till cheery and bright!

Everything is all moved in and has its own place. My sewing stuff is on a set of shelves by the door, where there's plenty of room for all of the fabric I own, including bulky fleece. In the cubbies I have placed all of my yarn and fiber. I thought I had a lot of yarn until it all went in and I was left with several cubbies empty. I intend to buy or borrow a label maker to help me keep everything organized. I also didn't notice how many manmade fibers I had until my stash was sorted by content. Eek! I'll have to work on remedying that soon.

Some pics of my room, all moved in:

My books are on the shelves over my desk

The sewing shelves are full

My natural fiber stash

My manmade fiber stash

The entire stash (remnants are in the bins underneath, as are my spindles, ball winder and empty toilet paper tubes)

Finally, I have a work in progress to share with you. It's my Hooded Cabled Pullover, with the first sleeve started. I've been working on this for over a year and am hoping to have it done by springtime:
Everything I need is all laid out on a slightly slanted writing desk that sits next to me when I'm on the couch. The pattern book is open, my trusty row counter is on the right, and the pencil marks off the pattern repeats I've written on the post-it. The round tub on the left is some locally produced beeswax hand cream that I put on my hands if I find I have a rough spot that catches the yarn. At the top is, of course, my knitting.
